"Africa is, indeed, coming into fashion." - Horace Walpole (1774)

Today in Zimbabwe, President Robert Mugabe swore in his archnemesis Morgan Tsvangirai as Prime Minister.

In other news, pigs are flying, chickens have lips, and the occupants of the turtle pond are doing Bollywood-style dances on the Main Mall here at the U.

Here's hoping this most unlikely series of events leads to real change in Zimbabwe.

How appropriate, the word "swore". You really wonder if, when the camera's turned for a second, Mugabe didn't sucker punch him in the kidneys.

Watch closely. The ZAPU-ZANU-PF merger in the 80's put Nkomo in "power" as a VP. It was like saying eating a chicken is a power sharing merger because the chicken gets absorbed in to you body. Nkomo and his supporters were absorbed into ZANU-PF and effectively disappeared. The MDC and Tsvangirai must not allow this to happen again. Mugabe cannot be trusted at all. The neighbouring African countries must force him to leave.
