Ah, the cold hard reality that Barack Obama is a politician hits the kids. Personally, I'm pretty pleased that he's tacking to the center, because it gives an easy example for explaining the Median Voter Theorem to my students.

If Obama doesn't recapture his boldness, McSame's run for Bush's 3rd term could actually result in a win. See the recent Newsweek poll showing Obama only 3 points ahead--a drop from 13! He still leads in the electoral maps, but if McCain were not such a Bob Dole wannabe, this summer would have been disastrous for Dems.

If the Median Voter Theorem were correct then the most successful candidates of the last several presidential races would have been Bob Dole, Al Gore, and John Kerry.
