This is the biggest problem my students have, no question. They have no idea how to filter, value, and judge the tidal wave of information that hits them each day.

Really interesting article. Very relevant and, sadly, true. I'll be honest, I don't think much about my information filters. I've developed them over the years as I do research; but now I'm at the point where it is second nature and I automatically filter reliable and unreliable data. How can I pass on to someone else what I have a hard time consciously expressing anymore? And, if I don't think about the filters, what do I let get by them without thinking?

In many ways, ignorance is bliss. With a dearth of information, we do have an easier time distinguishing the bunk from the good stuff.
