"Africa is, indeed, coming into fashion." - Horace Walpole (1774)

the end of my youth

Gang, there are 30 days until I turn 30.

To say that I am not handling it very well would be an understatement on par with calling a certain new friend's fiance a "guitarist."

I'm going to crawl into bed and not think about it now.

Take heart, TIA, there is life after 30. At 30+25 I can assure you that it's not all downhill after that milestone. How's the dissertation coming these days?

I'm not to 30 yet. I'm only 22. But I know someone who is 30. She says it's not too bad.
I'm sure you'll say the same. I'm confident!

Dearest TIA,
You have known so many people. You have done so much. You have seen so much. You have influenced so many. Yet you are "only" almost 30!
WOW! You should be proud of yourself. Stop and count how blessed you are and how much you have been a blessing to other people.
I had best stop else you might get to feeling too proud of where you have been and what you have done in such a short lifetime.
Your e-pal,
Charlie Mac (still young at 73)

Thanks for the perspective, all, and for your very kind words. I know how lucky I am.
