i need to sleep
My day, in brief:
- A long bus ride back to Pristina, made longer by the fact that our bus driver ran a red light not ten minutes into the journey, meaning that we had to sit on the side of the road for 3 1/2 hours while he waited for, and was then taken to, and brought back from the police station. Only then could the 7-hour ride to Pristina begin.
- A cocktail party that Steve the Lawyer's boss hosted, at which I was introduced to the head of the Supreme Court.
- Sushi and karaoke, at which S and I did, apparently, sing both "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" and "We are the World." (For the record, both were his idea.)
- Finally figuring out over sushi why the name of one of S's colleagues is so familiar. It turns out that he was in policy planning over the issue area in which I had my first DC internship, and worked with and knew my boss quite well. She, meanwhile, moved on to Senate Foreign Relations (where I interned a year later, but long before she arrived), and has now quit the government for good. Of course. My world is too small.
There are many pictures of this week that I can't load right now. For now, I very badly need sleep, as it is 2:04am in scenic Kosova.
