tremblement de terre
A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit southwestern Rwanda this morning. The epicenter was 12 miles east of Bukavu, one of the cities in which I work in the DR Congo. Radio Okapi reports 5 or 6 deaths confirmed in the Bukavu area, including an infant in Kabare, 20 kilometers to the west of Bukavu. Reuters says that Rwanda reports 25 deaths and 200 seriously injured, and that Sud-Kivu's governor says five dead in the DRC and 149 seriously injured.
Sometimes it seems like this corner of the world can't catch a break. Please keep the people of southern Rwanda and the eastern DR Congo in your prayers.
