looking at elections: the electoral compass

This is a fun way to find which candidate's views match your own. It can't account for personality, though.

Unfortunately, most people decide whom to support based completely on intangibles and emotions. I try to support the person closest to my progressive-populist platform, but I am a rarity--which is why Dennis Kucinich is not going to win the presidency. Sigh.

My backup was John Edwards, but I can't see him doing anything now but splitting the left-of-Hillary vote and thus, perhaps, costing the race for Obama. So, today, I sent Edwards an email urging him to drop out (he's 3rd in his home state of SC!) and sent a little money to Obama. I do worry about his lack of experience and wish that he would be more thoroughly for peace and human rights abroad, but I already know what Clinton would give us and it is simply not good enough.

when I lived in Japan during the 2004 election, I remember watching the conventions with my roommates (English and Aussie) and their complete astonishment at how our presidential candidates are treated like rockstars!

That was fun. Thanks for the link.
