watch your back
Just in case anyone was curious, it turns out that the market value of a practical joke pulled by the Librarian and myself is (drumroll)... $150. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Perhaps I should explain. Today was our church's annual youth auction, in which members and students donate goods and services to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The money goes to support the youth ministry's summer activities, especially the mission trip. So you can buy just about anything you can think of, from paintings to babysitting to golf games to a "no girls allowed" party.
Being at the young, starving graduate student stage of life, I don't have a lot to contribute to the youth auction (although our Sunday School class donation was amazing: a Monty Python & the Holy Grail gift basket, complete with a working Trojan bunny and a shrubbery), but the Librarian and I do have prank-pulling skills. Our "donation" was chosen for the live auction, and, well, $150 later, several kids won't have to pay so much to go on the mission trip. And someone's getting a spectacular prank pulled on his/her home, office, vehicle, and/or person. Heh-heh.
