"Africa is, indeed, coming into fashion." - Horace Walpole (1774)

enough is enough

Texas in Africa is pleased to announce our support for the ENOUGH project. ENOUGH is a joint project of the International Crisis Group and the Center for American Progress. It's mission is "to help bring an end to the crimes against humanity being perpetrated in Darfur, northern Uganda and eastern Congo, and to prevent future mass atrocities."

While the CAP is not exactly my political cup of tea, I am pleased to see that the respected ICG has teamed up with an American think tank to address the horrific crises in the eastern DR Congo, northern Uganda, and the Darfur region of Sudan. Please take a minute to visit the site and learn about the atrocities that are committed in these places on a daily basis.

Obviously, the situation in the eastern Congo is the closest to my heart, but all three situations are resolvable and need international attention to help millions of suffering people. I don't believe that anyone should have to suffer the way these mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters do every day. We must do everything within our power to stop genocide and other atrocities wherever in the world they occur. Learning more and getting involved is a great way to start.
